Just as I sit down to write today’s blog Peter begins to dictate his charts: “… period…The patient’s anginal symptoms have continued to accelerate despite combination medical therapy… comma…and I believe that cardiac catheterization is the next appropriate management step… period… I have reviewed…”
I like his company and want to sit with him, but his droning is killing my concentration. So I hand him a huge fuji apple to keep his mouth busy with chewing while I continue.
Everyone had an extra hour of sleep and woke up happy today. The girls said that they would take care of the meals today and I should just sit back and relax. We had a bunch of very ripe banana that needed to be eaten and Audrey made flour-less pancakes with them.
We walked at a leisurely pace to the farmers market at Fort Mason after breakfast and got our favorite dry farmed tomatoes and vine ripe organic strawberries. On our way back home, Angela wanted to stop at GNC and buy a box of Quest protein chips. This was how the girls took care of the meals today. Snacks and desert. The girls made a simple but delicious pumpkin cake.
Speaking of pumpkin, I’m afraid that the Pumpkin Man is still alive after being hacked to pieces yesterday. When I opened the fridge to get milk this morning, I found that he had multiplied himself since last night. There is simply no way I could ever finish eating this ever growing pile of pumpkin flesh.
Can anyone give me some ideas? Any interesting, exotic pumpkin recipes?
Peter has now finished eating his apple and is showing me the case that he was dictating. The following are the before and after pictures of someone whose life he has saved. This type of result must be what sustains him — the gratification of saving someone’s life. When his exhausting work hours and disruptive call schedules upset me, I remind myself that the reason that we are together is because of one of those heart attack patients introduced us.
And what other husband can look this good and happy and confident in a pink apron?
